Taralabalu Krishi Vigyan Kendra is established in 2005 at Davanagere
district by Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi,
Govt. of India under the aegis of Taralabalu Rural Development
Foundation, Sirigere. Davanagere is a special rural district with
semi urban nature located in central Karnataka of South India.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra or Farm Science Center is a district level
organization established for transfer of advanced agricultural
technologies to the farming community of the district.
Our Krishi Vigyan Kendra mainly aims to improve the production and
productivity in agriculture and allied sectors. Davanagere district
has a highly diversified agricultural scenario with dryland
agriculture being dominant. Water from Bhadra channel provides
irrigation for four taluks in patches particularly to paddy and
sugarcane growers.
Our Krishi Vigyan Kendra has associated itself with more than 300
villages (out of 930 total revenue villages) in various capacities
during the past five years. Demonstrations of frontline technologies
(>75 No.) and assessment of released technologies through On Farm
Testing (15 No.) have been carried out by the team of Krishi
Vigyan Kendra to alleviate the farming situation in the district.

Mandates of Krishi Vigyan Kendra

To Conduct “On farm testing” for identifying technologies
interms of location specific sustainable land use system.

To organise “Front Line Demonstration” on various crops to
generate production data and feed back infomation from farmers.

To organise short and long term vocational courses in
agricultural and allied sectors for the farmers and rural youth
with emphasis on “Learing by doing” for higher production in
farm and generating self employement.

To organise training for extension personnel on emerging
advances in agricultural research and regural basis.

To work as resource and knowledge centre of agricultureal
technology in supporting the initiation by public, priviate and
voluntary sector for improving the agriculture economy of the
district.

To take up the production of seeds and quality planting
materials, a large number of various extension activities for
speeding up the process of technology dissemination.
